ClaireAnneOBrien//BoldTexturedForms

Claire-Anne is a textile designer specialising in knitting. Originally from Ireland, she has recently graduated from the Royal College of Art, 2010, with a Masters in Textiles.

Her work plays with technique and scale creating playful and tactile fabrics for interiors. This sculptural approach to textiles brings fabrics to life in three dimensionns through form exploration and furniture.

Inspired by elements of the knitted stitch itself, the structures are revealed and celebrated through exaggerated scale in bold and textured forms. Lambswool and sheepswool, in a mix of hand and machine stitches, are constructed into playful statements.

The Little Mermaid statue of Copenhagen was created by sculptor Edvard Erichsen, and was gifted to the city in 1913 - a present from Carl Jacobsen.

The Little Mermaid character is taken from the fairytale by Danish author and poet, Hans Christian Andersen. In the true version of the story (NOT Disney), the mermaid never gets her prince, and instead, turns into foam on the waves and disappears forever. Weh.

LanaSutra/ErikRavelo/Benetton

Lana Sutra is a series of 15 installations created by Cuban artisit, Erik Ravelo, in connection with United Colours of Benetton. Conceived as a homage to love, dedicated to the desire for an equal and sharing society.

Provocatively and artistically, Erik Ravelo decides to show us the two points where the entities meet, where the colours merge into one another.

The intersection of differences creates one shared point, new colour, binding emotion and moment.

"I believe that Lana Sutra really talks about coexistance, about living together. It is about interaction among cultures and people of different races and faiths. It's an ode; a homage to hybridization... " Erik Ravelo
